Viewers Warm to Online TV Show Sponsors

iTunes isn’t the only way to make money from TV shows online.

In what is becoming a familiar pattern, TV producers are finding an active second life for shows after they air. Much like DVDs are important for movie revenues, DVD sets of TV shows are selling well, as are iTunes downloads of individual shows at $1.99 a pop.

Now rebroadcasts are proving effective for TV show sponsors who support hosting on the TV shows’ sites. This is likely to grow the online video advertising market beyond its current respectable-but-still-nascent status

TV Viewing Solid Despite Online Video Growth

Episodes of 24 are viewable on MySpace a day after airing on broadcast TV. SlingBox jockeys use their laptops to watch what’s on at home, unbound by geography and often untethered by wires. MediaPCs and AppleTV throw hard drive content into the living room, in files and streams. Amazon Unbox, CinemaNow and Netflix Instant Viewing do the same thing for PCs, letting movie fans get their fix when they can’t get to a theater.
